Smokes Tokio-Bill his voice dickey?
After the vocal chord surgery
Smokes Tokio-Bill his voice dickey?

His serious vocal chord surgery is not even two months ago, but the "Tokio-Hotel"-singer Bill Kaulitz (18) haven't learned something. Now he was caught again with a cigarette in his mouth ! Smokes the singer here his voice away?

At the Comet ceremony on Friday, the Magdeburger band received four prices, they celebrated until the early morning. Tipples and also whiffed...

BILD am SONNTAG asked Bill yesterday noon, if he knows, that he endanger his music career with smoking?

Bill Kaulitz answered: "The wound healing on his vocal chords is completely finished, but I smoke only very rarely. I totally take care about my voice, but after the whole stressful week I wanted myself yesterday at this great evening let oneself go."

A attitude, which doctors think is risky and irresponsible. Professor Ralph Mösges, ENT-doctor of the Uni-Klinki Cologne, to BamS: "After an operation, the vocal chords react very sensitively for impusles, lasting for weeks. Especially when a vocal chord polyp was demolished as Bills."

ARTIKEL IFRÅN WELT.DE

Riktigt lång, men mycket läsvärd & intressant artikel ifrån welt.de

An East German export hit conquers the USA

In their home village the four boys were outsiders, now they drive millions of European girls into hysteria and also record stores. Now Germany's most successful popband is trying to make it in the most difficult music market in the world. It could really work.

The night was short for Magna and Marsha. Since early in the morning the 17 year old twins are standing in front of the Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. "Twelve hours in the rain," they are screaming happily, as if they had spent all day in an amusement park. The both coloured Americans are shaking a little cause they are only wearing short tops. What they want to see are four strong boys from Loitsche next to Magdeburg. They are performing in a TV show tonight.

"T-O-K-I-O-H-O-T-E-L," Marsha screams. From excitement her handbag is falling on the floor. Make-up, eye pencil and lip gloss are rolling over the floor towards the studio. "Getting up and moving on," is told to the girls. The show is about to start, host Conan O'Brien announces the German band. "Tokio what?" an older audience member is whispering to his wife. She just raises her shoulders.

In Europe Tokio Hotel fill up the largest stadiums, now Germany's most successful popband wants to conquer the most important music market, the USA. A bold move, since most European acts don't make it on the US market. Even superstar Robbie Williams or Ronan Keating were ignored in the USA, the German Nena, Milli Vanilli, Scorpions and Rammstein made a few little successes in America. But that's about it.

The manager from Universal, worlds largest record company, of course also knows this too well. They however want to try to expand Tokio Hotel worldwide. And how it is going now, it's going well. Two weeks ago their first album in the USA "Scream" (Schrei) was released. This week it entered the Billboard Charts at number 39. Such an opening success has no German band ever had.

"The boys are awesome," tells Frank Briegmann, who runs Universal Germany. "With them we can write pop history." Nothing less as the conquering of the entire world is on his mind. If the move to America really works out, next year also Asia and South America will follow.

Tokio Hotel is at the moment the record company's biggest insurance of success. In a time where you only hear about record company's because they are making losses on record sales, this is worth gold. Originally the boys had a contract at SonyBMG. Cause the record label shorted the budget for new talent, the responsible manager let it go. Universal chief Briegmann insured himself of a band, the SonyBMG manager was fired. Foolish managing should also be punished.

The musicians between 18 and 21 years earn according to calculations around 3% from the 300 million euro year earning from Universal Germany. Since their discovery three years ago Tokio Hotel has sold more than five million records - which is good for about 30 to 40 million euro. On top of that comes a two digit million amount for fan merchandise such as sheets, shoes or doormats. No other German band sells so many articles of fan devotion.

Every eight weeks Briegmann meets up with all the other chiefs of Universal. Normally the 40 year old brings back a list with new international stars to Berlin, that will be sold in Germany. Though, in the winter of 2006 he had something amazing in his suitcase. His collegues were just as enthusiastic about Tokio Hotel as the German girls. Tokio Hotel became the first German band with a "Priority status"; meaning, every Universal country has to sell the record of the Magdeburgers and market it. "That", tells Briegmann, "was such a punch."

A punch, that especially was profitable for Universal Germany. Without doing anything or financing anything, the record company got month after month a two percent piece of the US-sales earnings sent to their bank account. That kind of thing normally only happens the other way around.

Even in countries where Universal isn't doing any marketing for Tokio Hotel, thanks to the internet fan communities are building. In Israel, teens collected last year 5000 autographs to get the band to play a concert in Tel Aviv.

Tokio Hotel opened a window that was being kept close by the industry for so long. The starting age for fans lies around nine years of age, there isn't much competition in this ago group. A financial good side effect, because most of the music is being bought by the parents. And those don't quickly go on the internet to download the songs illegally. They buy real CD's in the store, it still does exist.

After the Teen band has caused thousands of girls to faint and millions have been driven into hysteria, now it's the Americans turn. Since the beginning of May the Teen heroes are on promo tour through the USA and are giving interviews like crazy. The first time in English, to be said "we only speak school English," tells singer Bill. He tells it a little painful but event that is fallen into good place. The music magazine "Rolling Stone" praised Bill's "Extraordinary pronunciation," because it is kind of charming.

When Bill started singing the first note of the single "Ready, Set, Go!" in a New York TV studio, the twins Marshe and Magda are screaming, falling into each others' arms. Around the girls the little more older studio guests are just taking the way to load Rock sounds. Some of them are holding their hands over their ears. The twins however look with tears in their eyes, just like in love teens.

Nevertheless, Bill rocks the kind of small audience as if he were standing in front of thousands of fans. Record boss Breigmann knew how to recognise this talent, and in 2005 it was already there. Before the first CD was released the boys had to play in front of 300 Universal managers in Berlin: "That is the most unheard of audience that you can imagine, but the boys went for it like real pros."

There are two things that make the pop miracle Tokio Hotel: The lyrics and the personalities. In their songs they tell about every teen trouble like love, suicide or divorce of the parents. Just as extraordinary are the band members themselves, starting with the androgynous singer Bill with his hedgehog hair and black eye pencil around the eyes. His hair tip: "a lot of hairspray and no brushing."

Even though he looks kind of made, he is not a fabrication of the record company. At nine he already started to colour his hair. It's no wonder that Bill and his twin brother Tom (with dreadlocks) felt like "Aliens" in their 700 inhabitant village. Together with their noticeable quieter friends Georg and Gustav one of the best pop exports of the country has grown. Something that Bill from the start was convinced that would happen. He has gotten the Tokio Hotel symbol tattooed on his neck, even before the first record was sold in Germany. It was also Bill's idea to give interview from his sick bed after his vocal cord surgery in March: "It was just boring to me without anything to do."

Even during the first test performances in February the clubs of Los Angeles and New York were sold out within hours. Up to 2000 dollars were paid by fans on eBay for tickets, while the original price was $18.50 dollars. The "New York Times" made history for the boys with putting them on the cover. It even moved the old rock star with a woman's history, Tom: "I think I bought about 100 copies of the paper and brought them back home."

During a signing session at Times Square a few stores had to close because of the turn out of more than 500 girls. Magna and Marsha were also there - they camped outside for two days. The two girls discovered the boys on the internet about four months ago. To also understand the lyrics they are learning themselves German with a dictionary. "They are so cute," they are screaming after the TV performance and burst into singing "Durch den Monsun".

While their parents were driving the girls home again, record boss Briegmann and his guest are a few blocks away. To celebrate this "historical moment", he has invited a group of German TV managers to the USA. In a hotel the record company has set up a meeting to see the band. Like polite little boys the boys shake the old mans' hands and thank them for coming.

Also here they are doing splendid: "Yes, we were really tired," "We are happy about how it all went," "No, no party for us, when we are on tour we go to bed early," "Of course we can sign an autograph for your niece," one of the managers is very happy that he finally has a picture of him and the boys. "Now my ex-wife has no more chance with my son."

Then the band meeting is coming to an end; the guests are leaving again. Only thing what they have remembered this night is that the boys aren't 21 yet.

HITKRANT NR. 20

A lesson in Dutch for Tokio Hotel

Tokio Hotel already has been to the Netherlands so many times, that they should already know something about our language. Do the boys know the meaning of these Dutch words?

Spijkerbroek

Tom: What do you do with that?
Hitkrant: You all coincidently all wear one today
Georg: Shoes
Hitkrant: No
Tom: jeans?
Hitkrant: Yes!
Tom: So I have go to a store and ask for a "spijkerbroek" it will all be fine? Nice, I could use another one.

Oliebol
Bill & Georg: t-shirt
Tom: Something for on your head?
Gustav: Can we get a clue?
Hitkrant: You can eat it during new years evening. It's some kind of fried dough balls.
Bill: Something like a Berliner ball? I would like to try those!

Schaatsen

Georg; Schraatsen?
Hitkrant: It's a sport
Tom: Soccer
Georg: No, that's almost the same as with us. Fußball, voetbal.
Bill: Basketbal maybe..
Gustav: Tennis
Hitkrant: Most people only do it in the winter
Gustav: Snowboarding
Tom: Ice skating
Georg: Why are you right again?
Tom: Oh well, I am just so clever.

Bakfiets

Tom & Georg: Bobsleigh
Bill: potatoes!
Hitkrant: No, it has got nothing to do with food
Georg; No food?
Bill: O, your making it difficult for us!
Tom: Toilet of something? Defecating then?
Hitkrant: Shall we then just tell? It a kind of bike with a big bucket on it where you can put some stuff in.
Bill: Never heard about that before

Hagelslag

Tom: hair loss
Gustav: Can you say that again?
Hitkrant: Hagelslag
Bill & Tom together: skin eruption!
Tom: No? It could have been, right?
Georg: I know something, if you say whole sentence with the word then we can guess better.
Hitkrant: Oke, ik eet brood met hagelslag
Tom: butter
Gustav: Marmelade
Tom: cheese
Bill: oat flakes
Georg: Ugh, who eats bread with oat flakes?
Hitkrant: they are chocolate flakes
Bill: It sounds delicious. To bad we don't have that in Germany

Drop
Tom: drop?
Georg: Are you drunk?
Tom: Bist du dropp? (all the boys are hysterically laughing)
Tom: That's something they only say in Köln when someone is really drunk
Georg: Or did something else.....
Bill: If someone asks you that in Köln you know something is really wrong!
Tom: What the Dutch word means we don't know
Hitkrant: You can eat it
Georg: Is it candy?
Hitkrant: yes

Conclusion:
The boys will have to get back to The Netherland more often cause with the words they know now they never will make it.

I N T E R V J U N

Bill, Tom, Gustav & Georg of TOKIO HOTEL were back in the MuchMusic building today, and so naturally, since it worked so well last time, I had to pull them aside for a couple of minutes to ask them a few of your fan questions. The guys were in good spirits and once again I was amazed at how relaxed, grounded and fun they were. Here's how it all went down with the German rockers...

First off, welcome back to Canada! You just performed at the Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey. How was it?

Bill: It was really, really cool. It was the first time really performing after my surgery. We played three songs and there were a lot of fans and then after that we traveled to LA and in LA we had one concert and now we are here in Toronto.

So what do you prefer? Playing in festivals or your own concerts?

Bill: I prefer doing our own concerts.

Tom: Yeah, doing your own concerts are great. You have your own production team and your own crew and your own stage and stuff. It's great.

Bill: You know, festivals are always hard because there are so many bands and then it's just crazy backstage. Everyone is talking and there are so many people.

Georg: And you don't really get a sound check.

Tom: You always have sound problems in festivals, but I think at Bamboozle it was cool.

Bill: Yeah, it was good.

Did you get a chance to see any of the other bands perform?

Bill: Unfortunately, no. We had a really, really tight schedule.

Tom: Yeah, we had a lot of interviews to do and stuff like that and yeah, not much time.

What are some of your most embarrassing 'guilty pleasures'?

Tom: [laughs] I wouldn't admit to them. But Georg, he's a David Hasselhoff fan.

How "German" of you...

Georg: Oh, come on - not again. He's told this joke, like, 10 times now.

Tom: It's not a joke. It's the truth, but it's embarrassing.

Georg: [rolls eyes]

Bill: I love dogs, but that's not embarrassing. I just really love dogs. You know, if I see a dog I just go crazy.

Any kind in particular?

Bill: No, any dog. When I see a dog, it's like, "Oh my God, come here, come here!"

Tom: And Georg really likes to surf videos on YouPorn, and that's also embarassing. [Laughs] I'm joking.

Georg, is it true that you like Nickelback?

Georg: Yeah, I love Nickelback.

Tom: I really like the video for Rockstar because there's Kendra and, uh, from the Playboy Mansion - the three Bunnies. So that's a great video.

Are there any other Canadian bands that you know of and like?

Gustav: Is King's X from Canada?

No, don't think so.

Bill: Billy Talent are cool.

Nice. Hey Georg, does it bother you when people call you "George"?

Georg: Um, people can call me whatever they want - Georg or George.

Tom: Or you know, on his case where he stores his bass, he wrote "David Listing." [laughs] He likes the name David because of Hasselhoff. George Hasslehoff!

Georg: [groans]

[all laugh]

So last time you were in Toronto, you went up the CN Tower and went shopping at the Eaton Centre and went a bit unnoticed. Do you like that? Was it refreshing not to be attacked by throngs of fans for once?

Bill: That's always the goal, to go into a city and at first no one recognizes you, but we really want people to see us and to have fans. And now it's really cool that we have Canadian fans and that we're playing a concert tomorrow night. So I think it's better when people recognize you. That's good for a band.

Tom: It's always the goal that people recognize you on the street.

Bill: But of course, sometimes when you have free time, it's nice when no one recognizes you and you can just chill.

Tom: But that's boring.

Well, your fanbase is growing in Canada and now people know you are here for the night - they'll be looking for you.

Bill: Yeah, I think there will be some fans at the hotel tonight, but our schedule is so tight so that we are doing a lot of photoshoots and interviews during the day, so we don't have as much time this time to go out and check out things in the city.

Well, is there anything about fame that you find annoying?

Bill: I hate paparazzi, I really hate paparazzi.

Tom: Especially when we're on holidays.

Bill: Yeah, especially on holidays, it's just terrible. I hate them in Europe. In America there are also paparazzi, but not as as bad as in Europe. It's very terrible, I hate it.

So are you constantly on edge when you're walking around? Do you always notice them? Are they hiding behind corners or in bushes...?

Tom: Well, yeah, it depends. Sometimes on holidays, they hide. But, you know, on the street they just attack us.

Bill: Yeah, you know, it's OK to, I dunno, when it's at a concert or whatever, but in free time or when you're in private, I think it's just annoying.

So we all know how you got your name, but how did you come up with your band's symbol/logo?

Tom: You know, the idea was that in this logo we had a lot of T's and a lot of H's. And, yeah, that's what it is - it wasn't meant to be a big deal.

Bill: We just wanted something that was very simple. And, like, everyone can draw it and that was the idea so you can paint it on walls --

Tom: -- or windows --

Bill: -- or my neck. [laughs]

Who designed it?

Bill: We did it together with a guy --

Tom: I think it was my idea.

[all groan]

Have you ever actually worn traditional German clothing like lederhosen for Oktoberfest?

Tom: No, never. Sometimes Georg does, when he's dancing to David Hasselhoff.

Bill: We've never even been to Oktoberfest so far.

Tom: No, I hate Oktoberfest.

Do you drink beer?

Tom: Yeah, we drink a lot of beer, but not at Oktoberfest.

Well, I read this study that states the average German drinks 120 liters of beer per year.

Tom: We drink that in one month.

[all laugh]

Bill: No, we drink a lot of beer, but in America it's really hard because you have to be 21 to drink alcohol.

Tom: But not in Canada, right?

No, here in Ontario it's 19.

Tom: 19?

Gustav: [throws hands up into the air] YES!

[all laugh]

But in Montreal, it's 18.

Georg: We LOVE Montreal!

Bill: It's hard, because in Germany you have to be 18 and we were always, like, "Oh, c'mon - 18, 18, 18..." and now we are 18 and we come to America.

Tom: And you have to be 21.

Do you have any favourite kinds of beer?

Bill: Um, Heineken. Heineken is a nice beer.

Tom: I don't care.

Georg: I prefer German beer.

Gustav: I like the Czech Budweiser.

Nice, I'll have to try it. Enough about beer - back to the music. Do you have any plans to do any future collaborations with any other bands?

Tom: There's nothing planned yet, but we would love to do some collaborations.

Is there anyone in particular you'd love to work with?

Bill: Yeah, I dunno - I think there are some dreams for every band to do something with, like, the Rolling Stones or whatever, but I think, yeah, let's see.

Tom: In the summer we go back into the studio to record some songs, and I say, let's see what happens.

Bill: And then we can talk to other people, but I'm not sure, I don't have anyone in mind yet.

David Hasselhoff?

Tom: Yeah, David Hasselhoff! That would be great for Georg. Maybe a dancing project with Georg and David Hasselhoff. [laughs]

Speaking of dancing, a fan wanted to know if you, Tom, knew the Soulja Boy dance.

Tom: Yeah, I know the Soulja Boy dance, but I'm not a good dancer. No, Georg can do it, he's a very good dancer.

Can we video you doing it and put it up on YouTube?

Tom: Yeah, Georg can. He was doing the dance in the hotel room [laughs]. Yeah, Georg can do it. [laughs] No, I'm not a dancer. I'm a shy guy.

Georg: Oh, c'mon. You showed it to me this morning!

Tom: No, that was you!

Bill: I don't know this dance.

Tom: I've seen the video and the personal videos that people have uploaded to YouTube who do the dance, but you know, I'm not a dancer - I'm more a sexy guitar player [laughs].

Tomorrow night at the concert, we want to see the dance.

Tom: Yeah, maybe at the show. Together with David Hasselhoff and Georg.

Hey New York, we are Tokio Hotel. And you are watching Rolling Stone.com.

We've heard you have crazy fans

Bill: Tokio Hotel Fans, they live the whole Tokio Hotel life with us. We travel in so many countries and they come with us and they sleep in front of the venues, I think 3 months before we came in the venue, it's just crazy.

Tom: They write kilometre long fan letters and we have redesigned cars, Tokio Hotel cars...

Bill: And there was one girl she ran away from home, I think for 6 months...

Tom: For half a year, yeah

Bill: And that was just crazy. And she really wanted to find us but, we met her at an airport

Tom: Yeah, an airport

Bill: ... in the end, but just I think for 10 seconds or something.

Tom: Yeah *laughing*

Bill: There was one special present, I think it was a star...

Tom: Yeah, we got a star...

Bill: And then it's somewhere out there

Tom: A star called Tokio Hotel, yeah.

(He talks over Bill and I cannot hear what Bill is saying)

Your style has gotten a lot of attention:

Bill: For me, the very first time I wore makeup was at a Halloween party. I went to this party like a vampire and I think I was 10 years old and after that I said "Okay, I like it" and I started to color my hair and wear makeup and stuff and also in school and every day. If you take a look at the old pictures, you can see that George was so ugly and he is ugly right now. ( Hahaha, men elaka Bill )

Tom: It's a fresh look.

We hear you like Nena's "99 Luftballoons"...

Bill: I really like Coldplay, and Green Day but also Keene and I'm a fan of Nena. That was really my first contact with music. I was 6 years old and I saw Nena on TV in Germany and yeah, so, I'm still a fan of Nena.

Tom: He forced me to hear Nena in my childhood, so that was terrible.

Bill: It's important to hear Nena.

Tom: And I listen to German Hip Hop music, George is a big fan of David Hasselhoff...

Bill: Yes!

Tom: Gustav is a fan of Haino (?), you don't know Haino (?) I think, but also a good artist.

Georg: Not nearly as good as David Hasselhoff but...

Tom: Not a good dancer.

Were you nervous coming to America?

Bill: It's really the first trip that we speak English and also on TV shows and in front of a camera, because we just speak our school English...

Tom: Our school English, ja.

Bill: It's just some words and it was also a challenge for me to do the English record because I always sang in German and it's really the first record that I tried to sing in English. And I really wanted to sound... I'm a perfectionist and I really wanted to sound like a native speaker and as you can hear, I'm not. So, that was really a challenge to do. But it's a 1:1 translation from the German songs and we had some help with that but, yeah, I hope the fans will like it.

What's it like being brothers in a band?

Bill: I think it's normal because we were always together

Tom: Yeah, always the same friends, the same interests and yeah.

Bill: And we started to make music with each other...

Tom: Yeah

Bill: And in the beginning I just had a keyboard because we had no bass player and no drummer and, I don't play an instrument. I was always too lazy for that.

Tom: Bill needs me, to be honest.

Bill: And he needs me so...

24 FRÅGOR TILL BILL

Frågorna är ifrån 2007 ( German FC ) men jag älskar Bills svar, läääs! :-D

1) what are you doing with all of the necklaces, rings, bracelets and other presents that the fans give to you? i bet you don't know what to do with all of the stuff anymore, right?

Bill: yeah. ;-) ...that's true. i really got a whole lot of that stuff but that's just fine the way it is. *grins* i can't get enough of that stuff! i actually do have a suitcase just for my jewellery by now. back at home, i got my favorite stuff stored in big boxes.

2) you're rich, famous, and successful with your band. are you happy?

Bill: i'm extremely happy with how my life is right now. of course there's always stuff you wish for or that make you sad but you got that everywhere.. sometimes i can't really believe how lucky i got and in those moments i don't even dare to be unhappy or rant about stuff.
but then i do it anyway! ;-) hehe... no, seriously, i got a really hot life but if the next question is gonna be whether i'm still single.. :-) ...yeah, i am!!!!

3) what do you think when you see posters that say "we wanna see your cocks"?

Bill: ...won't my big brother be happy about that...

4) a question that a lot of people seem to be thinking about: what do you do when you get the hiccups during a concert or forget the lyrics?

Bill: that's a good question! thank god i never had the hiccups yet but it that's really gonna happen one day i'll let the audience sing for me! you guys know all the lyrics so i can rely on you. i've also never forgotten the lyrics yet. i don't know why but as soon as i'm on stage, it just keeps flowing out of me!

5) how do you deal with being an angel?! (note: what kind of bullshit question is THAT?!)

Bill: ...oh, you know... i'm doing rather well, actually! i keep just flying though town and take peeks here and there! make people happy, shoot lovearrows all around me and if i got a minute of spare time, i go shopping. that's pretty cool because i can just hang the shopping bags onto my wings. you know how that is, endlessly walking around ain't my cup of tea anyway... :-)

6) how often do you drop by at the fanclub? do you even look at the board? what do you think when you read all the stuff that fans come up with?

Bill: of course i'm around!!! i'm totally fascinated by all the stuff people think and discuss about.
good to know that you keep an eye on us that closely ;-)
i think it's awesome that you walk that way with us and never let us down. it's a nice feeling to know that and every time i feel alone and don't know to whom to go to, i just need to check the FC to know that there's so many people with me after all.

7) i don't know whether you're aware of that but since you're a very fascinating person, a whole lot of very different people dream of and lust after you- little and "big" girls, boys, grown men and elder women. do you think about that sometime and if yes, what do you think about that? are you scared, do you feel flattered or don't you care at all?

Bill: ...i don't know... i don't actually give it too much thought. sometimes i find it hard to believe! wow... to see it written down like that, it sounds pretty spacey! of course i'm happy, even though i'm probably not really able to really grasp it!

8) how do you see yourself, what would you change about you? what are your strenghts and weaknesses?

Bill: ...yeah, yeah... the others would totally say i'm an egoist now! personally, i wouldn't say i'm THAT much of an egoist. i gotta admit, when it comes to carrying guitars and suitcases i'm not really all that enthusiastic but other than that i don't think that description fits me at all. everyone's a bit egoistical adn to a certain degree that's actually very healthy! i always believed in myself and wanted to make accomplish everything i wanted to reach! when something's not going the way i want it to, i can get really nasty. that's my weakness. i don't do compromises very well. i'm a total perfectionist and that can be really tiring sometimes. i'd want to be a little more laid back sometimes but... well... hasn't worked all that well so far! anyway, i'm very focused and a pathological perfectionist and jealous.. *g*..

9) do you really cuddle with Tom? would the two of you "cuddle" with a girl together?

Bill: hahahaa... well, sure i hug my brother sometimes just like any siblings do. it's a fact that Tom and i have been sharing a girl before although not at the same time. at first Tom had her and the next day it was my turn. that was the only time so far!

10) what do you think about fanfiction and the popular intimate relationship to your brother in them?

Bill: everyone is allowed to have their fantasies... even if they're really absurd sometimes... but that's what they're here for. :-)

11) what would you say if a kid would ask where babies come from?

Bill: ...go and ask my brother, that's his favorite topic...

12) do you believe in life after death, spiritual healing, etc? and what do you think about esoterik in general? has anything "not explainable" ever happened to you?

Bill: ...ohh... that's a question i've never gotten before! well, i totally believe in stuff like that! i think there's so much stuff happening that simply can't be explained and that can only be something spiritual. i also strongly believe in destiny and that everything that happens to you has to be good for something eventually. nothing that happens in your life happens for nothing... life after death?... i think that totally exists too! i just can't believe that all of the sudden everything is over... something's gotta be there, whatever it is and how it feels like! i think i could write whole essays about that topic :-) in any case i totally believe in spiritual stuff and life after death, etc...

13) have you ever played private concerts for your family/friends?

Bill: oh god.. sure! we really did that a whole lot! we even played at a girl's birthday party in her living room! good times... hehe... but we were far from Tokio Hotel back then, those were Devilish times!!

14) what drives you nuts?

Bill: people who can't be punctual drive me insane!!! other than that, i don't like people being messy and not serious about work! like i said... when i do something i want it to be perfect and if someone elses lack of professionalism is ruining that for me, i get really pissed off! i've met a whole lot of people already nad a lot of them were big liars! it's very important to me to always be honest with other people! especially now, where it's very hard for me to trust other people, honesty is the most important thing for me!

15) you got thousands of female fans who claim to be "in love" with you. do you think that this is real love and do you think that those fans even still care about your music anymore?

Bill: i can't say whether this is real love or not! everyone's got to answer that one for herself. but i don't think that's all that important anyway, as long as you feel good. i know exactly what a wonderful feeling it is to be in love and i don't think it happens all that often in your life. i know that everyone of those girls loves our music too. i'm sure! you don't ave to choose either love or music after all!

16) is there something you don't like about girls (character, looks)?

Bill: i hate people who cheat and lie! ... other than that she should have nice hands of course... grin...

17) why did you kick Tom during "In die Nacht" at the Hannover concert?

Bill: ...because the idiot never looks at me.. i always look at him and he's always doing something else ;-) he needs a good kicking sometimes!!!

18) do you rather like natural girls or girls who wear a lot of makeup?

Bill: ...you can't say it like that! that's different with every girl. i think every girl who doesn't need a whole lot of makeup to look good is really lucky though ;-)

19) how would you prove to your girlfriend that you love her? could there be a situation in which you'd cheat on her even though you love her?

Bill: i'd never cheat on my steady girlfriend! that's the worst thing you can do!

20) are you planning on changing your hair or hair color in the near future? if yes, do you have any ideas yet?

Bill: well, i'd definitely feel up to it but i'd never tell you about it... if i do it, it's gonna be a surprise and things like that happen spontaneously anyway!

21) what's your favorite perfume/deo?

Bill: ...i hardly ever use perfume and i pick different deos every time. i don't have any special stuff.

22) can you explain us girls why you guys always have this EKG thing going? (Eier-kontroll-griff = guys grabbing their crotch)

Bill: say what? ...hahaha... i totally don't do that... (not in front of you anyway ;-)...)

23) are you really that much of a good boy when it comes to sex... or are you a wild thing inside?

Bill: ...well, i'd say that depends on the girl!

24) how much do we have to pay you so you'll get undressed down to your knickers for us?

Bill: ...hehe... come on... you saw me in my trunks already. i think that's enough for now!!!

TOKIO HOTEL @ ROLLING STONES OFFICE

Dispatches From the Intern Desk: German Emo Invades

This past Friday, German pop sensation Tokio Hotel invaded the Rolling Stone office for an hour. As you can tell by the image above, these guys certainly have a unique image that has somehow struck a chord with teenage fans all over the world. I don't necessarily understand how this group got so popular, but I also do not think I am necessarily their target audience.

We did a short video interview with them in which they discussed such topics as German hip-hop, their infamous crazy fans, and of course, their love for David Hasselhoff (seriously, the 'Hoff came up at least two or three times).

Normally with a video shoot we're concerned about the usual things like setting up lights and making sure the audio is recording properly. However, this was the first time we were legitimately concerned that the lighting may or may not start a fire due to the amount of makeup and product applied to the band. (OK, so maybe we were a bit worried about the same thing when Heidi and Spencer also came in.)

Before the shoot, I was in the bathroom washing my hands when lead singer/heart-throb Bill walked in. His personal security guard stared me down, figured that a young intern such as myself was not a threat and let me finish drying my hands off without confrontation while Bill went and did his thing. It was one of the more bizarre moments I've had as an intern in the past couple of months, but knowing that I basically lived the dream of every 15 year old girl on the planet feels pretty damn good.

INTERVJU ( BILD.DE 12 MAY )

Tokio Hotel exclusive
Bill & Tom speak about their triuphal US-Tour
By Mark Pittelkau
Published on bild.de May 12th 2008

Los Angeles - Germany's most successful rock band Tokio Hotel are still on promotion tour through the USA, promoting their english language Album "Scream". On the weekend, after performing in a TV show in New York they flew to Los Angeles, where they will give a concert tonight. BILD talked to the twins Bill(18) and Tom(18) Kaulitz about their success in America.

BILD: You've just arrived to Los Angeles. What is the difference for you between LA and New York?

Bill: For me these are two entirely different worlds. New York is much more European. LA in more like what a European imagines Amerika.

BILD:
Tomorrow you'll play your first complete concert after Bill's surgery in Hollywood. Are you nervous?

Bill: Yes, of course, shit, we're going berserk with excitement. Additionally it's the only US-concert. We're usually nervous, but this time it's even worse.

BILD: How do you feel now, that you're also successful in the USA?

Tom: We're totally happy about the great fan resonance here in the USA, but I still see this whole thing more as a success of esteem(quote from leo: something (as a work of art) that wins critical respect but not popular success)

BILD: You call that success of esteem? You're not that modest normally.

Tom: don't worry, when we talk about girls next time again, I'll be un-modest again for sure. (laughs) No, seriously: I think, that the really big success in the USA will arrive with entirely new and worldwide unpublished songs. Our goal is to publish our third album at the same time worldwide.

Bill: But we are still of course very happy and thankful for what is happening in the USA right now. We didn't expect that a few moths ago. We just don't want to overrate the US-success so far.

HITKRANT AWARDS

Bill:
"I'm so happy that I'm the hottest guy!"
Tom: "I like that one the least. the award would have looked so much better when it was my face on in instead of yours."
Bill: "the only thig is that I think "hunk" (hot guy) is a weird word. It looks like the german "honk" which means nerd."

Georg en Gustav: "
whaha, on the award it sais "gekozen" (chosen), we pronouced this as the german word "kotzen" (to puke)!"

Tom:
"look! the best concert and it's all because of tom! just to show that for once and for all, whaha!"

CONAN O BRIAN

var ingen intervju utan de spelade endast Ready Set Go , live dessutom! :-)

ARTIKEL IFRÅN BZ-BERLIN.DE

Here´s Tokio-Bill strolling around in SoHo.
Anyway, where has his mega hairdo gone?

Again the boys from ?Tokio Hotel".
But I can´t pass over, because I´ve never seen Bill (18) as casual as on that picture.

Taken at a stroll around SoHo. Outfit: normal (t-shirt, jeans, college jacket, sunglasses). Entourage: like aways (brother Tom, producer David Jost). Hairdo: jippieh! (I go crazy - without the "sea urchin - put - fingers - in - the - electric - socket - grazefulness"). Looks really cool, that boy. I can´t see any kohl-painted eyes, finally a human hairdo. I like it a lot.

After multiple, closer looking and a comparison of the stage Bill and the private lad I ask myself: Is Bill wearing a wig at official events? Yeah, I know.. the haircutter from Magdeburg and so on, teasing, dyeing, Kill-Bill is finished.. but I´m not sure. Granted, if he would wore one, it´d be silly, sure. But underneath the basecap it doesn´t look like if there was a lot to rock up.

Speaking of - Tokio Hotel" continues to be celebrated in New York, working off the inquiry. Today interview with the Rolling Stone" magazin, tomorrow Late-Night-Show Conan O'Brien", Sunday flight to L.A., May 13th concert at the Avalon" in Hollywood, 14th moving on to Canada, Toronto, Montreal. The first German concert after the vocal chord surgery will be on June 13th at the Westfalenhalle.

Update to Bills voice-feeling: again comfortable, nevertheless Jost writes me that "we take care that Bill sticks to his rests".

som ligger i Philadelphia , USA . Awsome för alla fans där !

BRAVO SUPERSHOW

Welt online 04.05.2008
Bill Kaulitz - he sings again for the Americans

Singer Bill Kaulitz was not allowed to speak a word for 10 Days - and "Tokio Hotel" couldn`t play concerts anymore, the European tour was cancelled. Now the young Magdeburgers celebrated their mini-comeback: at a festival in New Jersey. Snoop Dog performed before them.

A Cyst had to be removed from his left voice cord, and after the operation there was strict silence for him, because his voice had to be trained carefully.

A full month without Bill! For the fans of Tokio Hotel this situation grew to a nightmare.
"I thought: Oh god! Hopefully nobody takes me that amiss", Bill commented the situation, "and hopefully nobody was angry." For many haters it was more like a holiday for the ears. Tokio Hotel polarize like no other band.

At Saturday night now the Magdeburger stood with his three bandmates - twinbrother Tom Kaulitz ( 18 ), Gustav Schäfer ( 19 ) and Georg Listing ( 21 ) - on stage in New Jersey. At the "Bamboozle-festival" - the first performance after the operation.

Because of the still prescribed voice cord-rest Tokio Hotel only played three songs.
"4000 fans stood in front of the stage and could sing every song along by heart", band-manager David Jost says. And that, though the US-album isn`t released yet.
"Bill seemed to be pretty impatient and tensed up before the performance, but when he stood on stage, all the excitement was forgotten", Jost describes the first performance.

At the festival in New Jersey performed already celebs like the Rolling Stones, Prince and Nirvana. Now the American rapper Snoop Dogg stood on stage before the Magdeburger. A full blood musician, who looked at the German newcomers with interest for sure. But the quartet has to get used to that fast.

Already at Thursday the four boys will be at the Late Night Show of Conan O`Brien, and at May 13th they will perform their only complete concert in the US at the Avalon in Hollywood.
"Bill has turned the hearts of the New Yorker again to the left", manager Jost believes.

Tokio Hotel stood on stage in New York already at February. The "New York Times" published in their online-issue a cover story with video about the band "from Germany". There you can see the known love-offers on placards and chanties: "We love Tokio Hotel".
No matter, where the band performs, they put the fans in a state of emergency.

BILLBOARD REVIEW

image122
Europe's answer to emo. Tokio Hotel is a platinum-selling teen-pop band from Germany with a penchant for heavy guitars, big choruses and spectacular hair. Now the youthful foursome, led by wildly androgynous 18-year-old Bill Kaulitz, takes on America with "Scream," which features English versions of material from their two studio albums, "Schrei" and "Zimmer 483." Tokio Hotel's forte are über-anthemic power ballads, delivered in a Teutonic accent with heartbreaking sincerity ("Rescue Me," "Sacred"), Kaulitz's gender-bending vocals make "On the Edge" sound like Nena covering Nirvana, and the soaring slow dance "By Your Side," from the movie "Prom Night," couldn't be more arena-ready. Emo kids will flock to German class when they hear the original version of "Monsoon," the band's biggest hit, which closes this strangely fascinating Euro-glam effort. -SP

He had scared his fans, for weeks he couldn't speak. But Now it's back, the voice of the successful band Tokio Hotel. In the exclusive interview with BILD singer Bill tells us what he went through.

Bill: It was just like this with me. Nothing worked. And they said, "alright, if we don't remove this it'll keep coming back and then it won't be possible to go on singing", and that was a real shock-news after that week... all the going back and forth. After the better news in the middle and all the setbacks. That was the point where one knew, allright now one is out of order for at least four weeks.

Bill: The most afraid one was... because of the surgery, general anesthesia and stuff, that brings you down quite a lot. And beforehand I had watched a horror movie. And there, there was a man... I don't even remember the name of it... anyways there was such a man and he was under general anesthesia but he still noticed everything, but he couldn't tell. That means he really was lieing there and the doctors thought everything was fine - he had to undergo a surgery on his heart - and they cut him open and he notices everything and actually wants to tell them, but he can't because he can't move...
And I watched such things of course beforehand, and thought to myself, ok the most important thing is that I fall asleep and don't notice anything of it. That was really the most important thing for me.

For 4 weeks he was out of order. The musician wasn't even allowed to listen to his own music. The 18-year-old spent alone in front of the TV, and wrote enthusiastically and additionally was worrying about his fans.

Bill: It is incredible what came from the fans, how they reacted. I was really thinking "Omg, hopefully no one will be mad at me because of this" and it really helped to see that somehow everybody is worried and that everybody is somehow there and all go this way with me and don't leave me behind. That was anyhow really helpful during that time. There were really cute thing amongst it... one(girl) sent a ruff/tobey collar because she of course didn't exactly know what was wrong with me. But in any case, there were also inhaling machines and much more... well it was incredible. I really have one side of the fridge full with things that I have(???) and then there are really boxes with doubles. So it is really incredible. Lots of stuff has arrived, and I think I couldn't really see everything, but in any case the bigger part of it.

Bill: Uhm... I think I'm looking forward to seeing the stage, seeing the people, from the crew, to really see all those people again. And most of all the fans. Really to see that I can stand there again with a microphone in my hand, and something comes out. And I can really make the people, the audience happy. That was the worst for me that the tour had to be cancelled that all the disappointed fans had to go home, who really had already been waiting in front of the venue. And that had been looking forward to the concert for so long. And I can imagine really well how much that sucks, and yeah I was incredibly sorry for everything. I really am looking forward to standing there again and to being able to make all the people happy.

Already on Thursday Tokio Hotel are leaving for America. Here they want to present their new record "Scream". What remains is to hope, that Bill doesn't lose his voice again.
