Exclusive: The last show of the year

After two awesome concert in Holland this year it is becoming quiet around Bill, Tom, Georg and Gustav. What will the boys be doing?

The photos you see here are made on 13 July in Belgium. There Tokio Hotel performed at the festival Werchter Boutique. We didn't want to keep these from you, because it was Tokio Hotel's last show from there European open air tour en with that also the last show they did this year in Europe.

Off course the boys won't be twisting there thumbs the rest of 2008 either, they keep being busy. Bill and his boys are leaving in the beginning of Augustus to the United States to give live shows there the rest of the month and with that build a name for themselves in America. Because also America is becoming more and more TH-"minded".
In May Time Square was already decorated with huge images of Bill, Tom, Georg and Gustav that were hanging in the outside of the MTV-studio's there. There single and album Scream are released there and the fans response is very enthusiastic.

Gone forever?
You can't off course blame Tokio Hotel for trying to break through in the States; that's the biggest dream from about any artist. But that doesn't mean that they are gone forever now. Are you crazy! There are already plans for a new album that will be released in Germany, our little Netherlands and other parts of Europe. That will be the third Tokio Hotel album. Rumours say it will be a German record again. When it will be released isn't clear yet, but it will probably be somewhere in 2009.

Bill has already started with writing new songs. Everywhere he goes he is writing lyrics. He prefers his laptop but if he doesn't have it with him he quickly writes something on a coaster or saves it in his phone. Earlier this year the singer has been through some rough times, with problems with his voice and even surgery on his vocal cords. Bill is getting a lot of inspiration out of this difficult time.

Are you Tokio Hotel fan, then you will have to be patient until something new from your german heroes is released. But the good news is: they are working on it!

In the spring you had to cancel a lot of concerts, because Bill had to be operated for a cyst on the vocal chords. Now you are back on the track. How does it feel to be back?

Bill: It is SO great to be back on stage again. I was really terrified under the whole process. Its obvious, that you get worried and thinks "What if my voice will be ruined?", or "What if I dont sound like before". Luckily I had a quick recover. First time I was on the stage after my surgery, it was really awesome, and I really enjoy the concerts we are playing at the moment.

What did Bills illness meant for the band?

Georg: It was a situation, where the power was out of our hands. The only thing we could do, was wish him well, and then just wait.
Tom: It took some time, before we actually realised we had to cancel the rest of our tour. In the beginning, when Bill went to Germany to get checked, the rest of us kept travelling from town to town, because all along we hoped he would come back.
Bill: I actually think the whole experience have brought us closer together.

Were you afraid it was over for Tokio Hotel?

Tom: Of course we thought about it. Especially in the beginning, were we didnt know what was wrong. But after some time, we started to think about the future, and that Bill would come back at some point. The worst we could imagine, was that I had to take over for Bill. Haha

You are currently breaking through in USA. Why is that so important for you?

Tom: To go to USA and try our luck there, is really amazing - especially for a German band. It's really rare that happen. So of course we will take the chance when it comes, and see if we can make it over there. But its really not like we have a masterplan, on which countries we want to do make it in. It's usually our fans, that discovers us online, and when we see there's a lot that likes us, we go there. That's how it works for us.

What is the craziest thing you have experienced in USA sofar?

Bill: There's so many things, it's hard to choose. But recently, we experienced something pretty wild in L.A. We were sitting in the backstage-room after our concert, when all of the sudden, we hear a strange sound. Then we discovered it was a girl, trying to crawl through the window, on the second floor! Unfortunately, she got stuck, and then she even lost her camera. Pretty crazy.

Some of your Danish fans, feel a little disappointed over the cancelled concerts in Denmark, and that you havnt rescheduled. What would you like to say to them?

Bill: We really want to say - particularly me - that we are really, really sorry we had to cancel. We really couldnt do anything else in that situation. Unfortunately, we havn't been able to find new dates, but we promise we havn't forgotten about them, and that we will try to come and play as soon as possible.

Who of you makes the most jokes?
Tom: Well, you have to laugh the most about Georg, but that's more unintentionally.

Why?
Tom: Georg is clumsy.
Georg: I tend to drop a brick. But at least no dove has ever shit on my hat. That happened to Tom at a photoshoot.
Tom: We laugh the most when someone embarrasses himself in front of us - which mostly is Georg.
Bill: I also laugh my ass off watching TV shows with funny home videos.

Are you ever in a bad mood?
Tom: Of course. And you can tell easily when we are.
Georg: I'm always in a bad mood in the morning.
Bill & Tom: Me too!
Georg: We step into the tourbus and don't say a single word. Maybe "Hello" or "Morning" - but nothing more.
Georg: I'm very stressed in the mornings too. When I pack my bag and it won't close, I'm loosing it.
Tom: That freaks me out too.

Who of you has the hardest time to get out off bed?
Georg: Me.
Bill: Georg always oversleeps. Either the batteries of his mobile phone are dead, or it just doesn't ring at all. There's always something.

Gustav, you are an early riser, aren't you?
Gustav: Yes.
Tom: If we have to get up at 8, Gustav is already up at 6.
Bill: I totally couln't do that. I could sleep forever. If nobody would wake me, I would oversleep my life.
Tom: The other day there was a the fire alarm in the hotel, and I just turned over and continued sleeping. It dodn't bother me at all.
Bill: It was such a noise. I just looked if there was any smoke in my room.
Tom: I was just afraid that some sort of sprinkler would go on. If I'd been waked up by a showe, I would have freaked.
Georg: I hate cold showers in the morning.
Tom: No, I always have to shower cold in the morning, otherwise I won't wake up.
Georg: I hate it when I have to leave my warm & cozy bed.

Do you have any other shower rituals?
Gustav: I hate it when I take a nice hot shower, and then the bathroom is cold because someone left the door open.
Georg: Who leaves your door open? Aren't you alone in your hotelroom?
Gustav: But when we are in the studio, we have to share a bathroom. I always turn on the heater, and then one of you jerks of course leaves the door open.
Bill: We only have one bathroom in the studio. Gustav is always the first one to go in, no discussion about that. We others watch TV until he's finished.

Who decides who's the last one to go in and therefor can sleep the longest?
Bill: The one to calls first is the one who goes in last. It's like a game to us. We all shout really loud "I'm the last one!" and who's the slowest is the loser.
Georg: Some people are annoyed by this.
Bill: We do it at photoshoots and TV shows too. We all say: "I won't do this. I won't do this." and people think we aren't in the mood to do anything. But it's not like that. It's just a game. And no one is allwowed to break that game. And no one does.

What would happen if one of you did?
Tom: We don't even want to think about it.

Would the person get kicked out of the band immediately?
Georg: Well, I wouldn't go that far.
Tom: That's actually a good idea.

Is one of you particularly messy?
Bill & Tom: Georg!
Georg: Messy? Well...
Bill: Georg's room is always such a mess - he always throws everything out of his bags. I'm always just unpacking the most necessary things. But in georg's room, it always looks like a bomb jsut exploded there.
Georg: But you guys always show up in my room and then it looks like shit. They always eat at my room and then just leave everything.

And the rooms of the others are all very tidy?
Georg: Forget it!
Bill: My room at home is always tidy. I hate stuff lying around.
Tom: My room's not always tidy, but I know where to finy everything. And nobody else but me is allowed to clean my room.
Georg: To speak again about being messy - I don't wanna have to say how your bathroom looks like, Bill! The towels are lying criss-cross.
Bill: That's true. But only in the hotel.
Georg: The only thing Bill doesn't unpack in his bathroom is his toothbrush.

Who of you has the coolest style?
All: Me!
Tom: It's me - by far.
Bill: The others try to hide it, but it's obviously me.
Tom: But I think everyone just likes the stuff he wears the most.

Are there moments when you don't like what you look like?
Bill: Sometimes I look really stupid in pictures in magazines.
Gustav: Yeah, sometimes my pictures are from a really bad angle.

Who's the biggest troublemaker?
Tom: We all like to start discussions.
Bill: On schooltrips I often started fights with the people from the next room, because they had too loud music on. I'm very good at disputations.
Georg: Oh yes, he always wins.
Bill: At one point the other one doesn't know what to answer anymore.

Is it the same in the band?
Georg: We have discuss (have arguments) about every stupid thing. Tom and I just had a discussion why there's no parmesan at the catering.
Tom: How are we supposed to eat pasta without cheese?
Bill: But we also discuss meaningful things.

About the meaning of life?
Tom: Oh, no!
Bill: But we do talk about profound subjects.
Georg: From time to time, when we are on holidays for example.
Bill: Yes, at holidays. When you just lie there. I can never keep my mouth shut. When somebody starts - even if I'm dead tired - I just have to step into the conversation.

The Parisian DJane Joana de la Jungle took care of the music-mix, and the Londoner violinist Sophie Serafino headed on with handmade sounds to it. Surprise during the late hour: Germany's most popular rocker twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel mixed amongst the audience and showed no fear of pushing and barging in. Previously the two teen idols were in the new Upper East celebrating, but were little amused: "Lots of weird people there," said Bill.

«We are not puppets!»

For those who don't know you again, how have you four met?
Tom: Bill and I, we started making music when we were 7. We have always prefer that to video games! We have devote it all our free time, the evenings, the weekends. Bill played the keyboard, because we didn't have anyone else to be in charge of the drum and bass. I've met Gustav and Georg when we were at the Academy, we've become friends then.
Gustav: And then, one day, I attended one of their performances. When I saw Bill on stage playing the keyboard, I said to myself that we should really change that. (laughs.) We have therefore began to discuss it and I have propose them to play with them. It was at this time that we became a band.

What would you want to reply to the people that say that you are a marketing product?
Bill: Oh my God! To say such nonsense, they must be frustated people! Still, it's the classic bullshit that we hear in the music business. Specially in Germany, because these last years, as in England in the 90's, there are many castings to form a boys bands and a girls bands. There are even TV shows whose aim is to find THE next band. Suddenly, it's very difficult for a real formation that didn't pass by the reality-tv circuit to impose themselves and to make a break out. Nowadays it's very difficult to convince people that we are a real band, that nobody told us to be friends with Gustav or Georg. In any case people don't believe us. Consequently, we do our thing without worrying with these rumours. Music, it's an emotion; if you're just a puppet, how can you put your soul in what you do? For my part, I believe that I put my soul to it, so I get angry when people think that what I do is plastic. But at one point you have to put some distance between those rumours and you otherwise you are "eaten".  (måste kommentera, GO BILL ! )

What relation do you have with your fans?
Tom: If we can, we talk to them, sign autographs...it's the least we can do, because where you go, they are there! Sometimes they wait for hours or they even spend the night there, on the street. Whether it's cold, raining, snowing, they are there. And then, they offer us gifts that they made with their hearts and souls. So, give them a little of our time, it's the least we can do to show them how what they do counts to our eyes. We'd like to measure up to their love.

What's the most remarkable gift that a fan has offered you?
Bill: It's a difficult question, because we receive tons and tons of gifts. We are very touched by the letters of our fans. Some are very long. There is one that has 14 Km! It's almost a book of 1000 A4 sheets.
Georg: If not, we've received a car, a Mini Cooper equiped with our photos and names. But it's really impossible to choose a particular gift, because they all mean something to us.

Do you take the time to go to forums or your MySpace?
Bill: You have to be careful because in the forums, there are many people that pretend to be us, that chat with our fans and foul them. If we are on the Internet, is always as a group and is announced officially. Apart from that, we spend many time on the blogs dedicated to us or in our MySpace, because their opinions matters a lot to us.

The girls are crazy for you, but, you, what's your type of girl?
Tom: It's a difficult question, because I don't have a certain type of girl in mind. It must just be a good feeling from the start, a connection that starts the relation naturally. She can be blond, brunette, red-haired, it doesn't matter. But with the life we have, we don't have the time for a love relationship. At least, I mean a real love relationship. At the same time, that doesn't interess me to be faithful, commit myself...I mainly want to enjoy myself. I was mad for a lot of girls. Too many girls. (laughs). I really think we can fall in love several times in a lifetime and that, luckily, several people are made for us.
Georg: As far as I'm concerned, I'd love to find a girl that looks like Angelina Jolie, the Olsen twins and Eva Langoria.
Gustav: So, we will fight for the same girl Georg. (laughs)
Bill: I love that the girl has a great look, nice nails and a beautiful skin. And then, especially, that they are positive and playful. I don't like one night stands. I truly believe in true love, a love that you only find once in a lifetime...if you have the chance. Because I think that many people never find it, which is very sad... I've already met girls, I've already fall in love. I know what it is to have a flash for someone and the butterflies on your belly, but I still haven't found love with a big L.

Bill you have a unique look. Did you always like to wear make up, do you do your nails?
Bill: I do that since a long time ago. Gustav and Georg didn't even ever known me with a different look. I started to like to wear make up when I participated in a Halloween evening some years ago. I've disguise myself as a vampire. And then I kept that look. It's part of my personality.

How many time in the morning do you spend to make you beautiful?
Bill: Not much. About forty minutes.

Do you have any ritual before going on stage?
Bill: It's not really a ritual. Gustav likes to stay alone, concentrate himself, listen to music. As for Georg, Tom and I we like to meet together backstage before the show starts and stress the three.(laughs) We close ourselves in the green room for half an hour and nobody can came in. Even our manager! We imagine the worst things that can happen, we laugh about it and that relaxes us.

And when you are not on stage how do you spend your free time?
Georg: We play ping-pong and kicker!
Tom: And when we are not on tour, we like to sleep very late! Expect Gustav, who is an early bird. But Bill, Georg and I we like to eat, watch tv and sleep. And when we can really make a break, we like to go on vacations.

And what's your favourite destination?
Tom: All I can tell you is that we love the little isolated islands very, very, very far from here.(laughs)

By force of circumstance, you spend many time together. Do you keep friendships outside the band?
Tom: Yes, of course! Because it's important for us to be able to talk about other things besides Tokio Hotel. But because we share the same friends, we are always the four. And then, we go on vacations together.(laughs) Thus, yes, Tokio Hotel, is our most beautiful friendship story.

And you never fight?
Tom: Oh, we'd want to sometimes. Especially when Georg decides to remove his shoes. (laughs) But our friendship is stronger than the disputes!

Even if you are loved by your fans, is there always something about yourselves that you don't like?
Bill: (laughs) We didn't change, we are the same. We have the same flaws than before. And we have the same relation with each other than before we've known success. So, even if it's crazy to be 18 years old and see so many girls mad about you, there are always things I don't like about myself. I don't walk in the streets telling myself that I'm the greatest guy in the world. Tom does, always.(laughs)
Tom: There's always something that we don't like about ourselves. But it's normal; we are 18, we seek. And for our age, we have a strong confidance in ourselves. When I say I'm the best, I don't take the lead.

What souvenirs do you keep from your childhood? How you describe yourselves at that time?
Bill: We always had confidence in ourselves and in our future. We had a lot of character. We have started very early making music, because we have since young known what was good for us. That wasn't always easy to live. At school, we didn't want to fit in a mold, that's what created clashes between us and the teachers and the other students. But apart from the fact of hating highschool, we had truly great fun.
Tom: Me, I'm always crazy. I've always in me the child I was. Fourtunely, he isn't in the people.(laughs) He guides me everyday.
Bill: But contrary to what our fans may think, we are far from being perfect. We recognize the success that we have, but we don't want to be an example to people!

slutsålda, det är House of Blues i Chicago och House of Blues i Anaheim och
de är dem 2 minsta ställena som de ska spela på. Chicago tar 1100 personer

Q: Want to say 'hello' to the audience?
Bill: Hello to all who are watching!
Q: Welcome to Modena. He wanted to know if you've already seen the city, how you're spending your tour-days.
Bill: Sadly not. We just arrived two or three hours before and came directly to the venue, so we didn't see anything of the city. And I regret to say that directly after this concert, we go on to the next town... right now, we're a bit in festival-stress. But what we see from here is that it's extremely hot and great weather and our fans are rocking, so we're happy to be here.
Q: There's the rumor that 60,000 € were stolen from the concert in Rome?
Tom: When I look at my bank account, I'd say that's quite possible ;-)... But no, I've not heard of this, not really?!
Q: He says you don't have to be afraid, he won't start asking questions about your hair.
Bill: That's very kind.
Q: *Gives over the TRL award for best band*
Bill: We want to thank our fans, all those who voted for us. Thank you for this award, we're very proud and we look forward to our concert and our fans, so, thank you very much, we're extremely happy. Thanks.
Q: So, who gets to keep these awards? Or do you just throw them away?
Bill: I just said it: Looks like we again only get one, but we're four, and we can't divide it up... and I just said: Tom and I definitely will take this one home, so it'll stand in our cupboard, among all the other nice awards, so that it won't be lonely. So, they always get a place of honor.
Q: From the outside, you look very "compact", very friendly among each other. When you have time, do you go out to party together in the evening? Are you together outside of the band, also?
Bill: We definitely are always doing things together. I can hardly think of days in the year where we were apart, because we've known each other for 8 years now, I think we are, like, the closest friends. So, we really make every step together... it doesn't just look like it, that's really how it is...

Tom: Yeah! I'd do things that you'd have to beep out, and since we're live on air, I won't say it.
Q: How are things with the new album?
Bill: Right now, we're in the studio like crazy. Tom and I are constantly writing songs, and we all are in the studio, always in between the festivals we definitely are there a lot, we shut ourselves in and write new material, and just play together, that also often leads to new things... yeah, we're really creative right now, but we cannot say yet when it will be out. We're working on it, and...
Tom: ...it will be amazing! It will so blow you away!
Q: When you sing one of your greatest hits on stage, do you ever look at one person, only one person in the eyes, at one girl and focus on here with your eyes?
Bill: Definitely! There certainly are moments, especially in the first rows, you have many girls that you sing to, that you watch closely during the whole concert...
Tom: There are certain tricks to get attention, ja?! And even today we talked about this *Georg laughs*, it hasn't happened for a long time now that a girl went topless, ja...
Georg: ...pity, actually...
Tom: It hasn't happened forever, and I really don't know what happened, but... maybe it will happen again, who knows.
Q: Have you learned a new Italian word, besides your favorite "vaffanculo"?
Bill: Um... no...
Q: Could you imagine a life without music? What would you have done if this hadn't happened?
Bill: Nothing... We'd have stood in small clubs, we'd still have made music, because we couldn't imagine a life without music. I always was convinced that some day we'd make it, that we'd play on big stages - though I wouldn't have dreamed that they would be so big. But I always hoped that I would at least be able to make a living with music, and I gave everything for that.
Tom: Maybe stripper, as a part-time job. But apart from that... definitely more focus on the music.

"For many it's all a hysteria with no reason, but for the fans of Tokio Hotel that spent hours without sleeping and many hours under the burning sun, everything is worthwhile! The german band is returning to our country and there is no need to have eyes wide open to see that they will be receive with open arms!

Reporter: Some of the people that are outside are here from maybe two week or a week, let's say. It's there any band that you would do the same to see them and how do you look at this kind of crazy you know suff that surround you?
Tom: We're very happy with that, of course. But I have to say that there isn't a band for which I would do that, but there's a women Jessica Alba.
Georg: Had to be.
Tom: People speak so much about her. But we're very happy, specially after our last concert got cancelled and to have outside people that are already here waiting over a week it's very good.
Bill: We can say that as a band we have the best fans that we could wish for. The scenes from today repeat themselves and we are very happy.

Reporter: You came from Spain and you should know that today germany plays against Spain, do you tease them over there about the game of today?
Bill: To tell you the true we don't understand anything about football, we are very bad in football. And to be honest I'm not a big football fan. Obviously we wish good luck to Germany, but there's no problem if Spain wins. Both are beautiful countries, so it's not very important.
Georg: But I'm sure Germany will win!

Reporter: This place give you the creeps for the last time you were here, do you think like oh I'm going to a place where something bad happened to me?
Bill: The others have just talked about that. We were already on backstage and remembered the show that had to be cancelled. To me what happen, happened and it's gone and I'm very happy to be fit again, to be able to go on stage again and I try not to think about it. I can't forget it completely, because it was the worst thing that happened to me and I felt sorry for the fans. And it makes me glad that they have returned again, that they have stayed faithfull, that they are all here and I'm very happy for the concert that we'll perform tonight.

Reporter: Are you tired of playing these songs, you want to write new stuff or everyday is different and different that you kind of like to notice the songs developing?
Tom: Well, tired we still aren't, for sure. Georg gets out of tune in all songs till today, so it's ok. But we realized that it's time to edit a new album and we're on studio composing new songs, experimenting new things, we are working and things are developing. But it still it's too much for Georg.
Bill: Well, with the new album we're trying to free ourselves from everything, clear our ideas, empty our heads, go for walks, so that we can continue being creative. Definitively we are going to keep our sound. Without doubt we will continue to be Tokio Hotel, but we will try some new things. We have many ideas and we are in a creative process with things revolving in our heads and equating what direction to take. Anyway the new album will bring surprises, surprise songs and so.

Reporter: What's shuttling on your hi-pod's nowadays?
Bill: uhm.. it's hard to say...The new Coldplay's album, no doubt. I think it's pretty good, and besides a little of everything. I at least don't fix on a band, I like to hear good songs and it's a big mixture. But, at the moment, it's defenitively the Coldplay album."

Konsert i Italiens huvudstad Rom ikväll på arenan Ippodromo delle Capannelle.

Just nu sägs det vara totalt kaos vid arenan. Biljetterna är tydligen onumrerade till
denna konserten, så "först till kvarn" får bäst platser. En italiensk fanklubb hade då
fått för sig att dem skulle tränga sig före alla andra, och tydligen ska det har startat
ett stort bråk, och slutligen kaos. Säkerthetsvakterna ska tydligen ha sjukt dålig
kontroll på det hela, VSD är inte där ännu.

16.11 - "Apparently VSD is there.TH know about the chaos. Luckily, fans seem to be calmer now."
16.15 - Polisen påväg till arenen . . tydligen har det blivit bråk mellan säkerthetsvakter vid arenan.
16.30 - SOUNDCHECKET STÄLLDES IN, pga "kaoset" ! ( Omg, inte bra, inte bra )
17.07 - "There is police at the venue and there have been guards from 3 different security companies in order to get this insanity under control"

There's still pre-show music playing. It's not as if they couldn't use the mic or anything. We wanna go home."

Första och främst har USA-touren fått ett nytt datum, Den 22 augusti spelar
TH i Las Vegas på klubben House of Blues.

Sen skrev jag ju tidigare att det ryktades om att Danmarks konsert (Köpenhamn-konserten)
skulle ha fått ett nytt datum den 27/1 2009. (dock ej bekräftat) .
Nu sägs det att konserten i Aaborg Danmark OCKSÅ ska ha fått ett nytt datum, datumet ska
vara den 30/1 2009.
Enligt den Danska konsertarrangören ska inga datum vara 100% bestämda, utan har
disskuterats, och att det inte var meningen att datumen skulle nå ut till allmänheten ännu.
Vi får helt enkelt vänta och se ;-)

Tokio Bill writes almost daily a new song.

"Right after the surgery on his vocal-cords the frontman of Germany´s currently most successful band started working on the new "Tokio Hotel" album.
The days before and after his vocal-cord surgery have been one of the hardest times of his life for Tokio Hotel vocalist Bill Kaulitz (18).

But now, after he endured it all well, the following shows: The medically decreed silence contained something good. Since then Bill works almost daily on new songs. "Bill approaches me constantly with new song ideas" reports band-manager David Jost to B.Z. (comment by Starshine: B.Z. is the abbreviation for "Berliner Zeitung", a newspaper). Particularly the many travels (USA, France, Spain) seem to inspire him.

"When you´re abroad you usually don´t finish the songs, but lots of ideas come into being. You have to dedicate to such a feeling the moment it arises" knows Jost.

Bill writes his lines down on Hotel note paper, on the mobile phone or his laptop. So a lot of material for the new and third album has already been gathered. And one thing is certain: Bill continues to sing in german! That´s no problem for the fans abroad knows Jost. "The main reason for this is that the fans want to get as close as possible to Bill´s identity.Therefore they want to understand the lyrics in german and prefer to hear Bill at concerts in his mother tongue."

But when the record is going to be produced is not cleared out yet."

Egentligen ett ganska onödigt inlägg men jag kunde inte låta bli

Det verkar inte ha vart speciellt många fans som visste vart dem bodde (?) Iallafall på näst sista
bilden så ser Bill väldigt mycket längre ut än Tom ;P
